Doc *** From Mark: LOL District Spring Convention - The Land O' Lakes Spring Convention which includes the International Preliminary Quartet Contest (2010 International) and the Chorus Contest for 10,000 Lakes and Southwest Divisions, is scheduled for April 30 and May 1 in Mankato. The Commodores will be competing to earn a qualifying score that will allow us to compete at the Fall contest (2011 International qualification). The Chorus Competition is on Saturday, May 1. Each competitor will be required to purchase an All Events Ticket Package ($40) or a $12 ticket for just the Chorus Contest. Please get the date(s) on your calendars if you haven't already done so. We'll be starting to work on getting the registrations together soon. Hotel rooms are available at designated hotels in Mankato if you'll be staying over Friday and/or Saturday night. Proposed BHS Changes to International Chorus Competition – The Barbershop Harmony Society has proposed a change to the existing qualification system for chorus competitors. The proposal is detailed on the society website with a request for member input via a very simple questionnaire. Once you've responded you get immediate feedback about how the percentages for each response have totaled so far. I would encourage every member to read the proposal and respond to the survey. Under the proposal any chorus that qualified to compete in any one year would not be eligible to compete the following year. This greatly expands the number of choruses that would be eligible to compete. The current system calls for having choruses compete in the Fall for International the following year. This proposal would move the International Contest that a chorus qualifies for to the following year (e.g. qualifying in the fall 2011 contest would be for the 2013 International Competition). If you have any questions about this please see me. Mark Ortenburger .*** From Diana and Carl: Ticket Announcement – Great show!! Please get your tickets paid for as soon as possible.
