The SWIPE MINNEAPOLIS COMMODORES www.minneapoliscommodores.org June 23, 2009 From Paul: Hi guys- just got back from California, and Becky’s family reunion… Here’s the plan: 7:30 vocal warm-ups 7:45 Impossible Dream 8:05 contest set (this is last time before we do it in Anaheim!) 8:45 B/B 9:00 Battle Hymn 9:05 contest set 9:59 KAS/KTWWS You have all done INCREDIBLE work getting ready to compete at the biggest event in which a barbershop chorus member can be a part! You are all in the top 25 of the world’s best…let’s work to make it even a little bit higher! Paul *** From Mark: Anaheim: 1) Information Packet: If you are going to Anaheim please pick-up an information packet at the table. This has our final schedule, a map of the hotel area, critical phone numbers, and flight times for those who submitted them to me. 2) Photos: Last chance tonight for chorus photos. Please see me at the break if you want one. If you already signed up but have not paid, I've got to have your money tonight. 3) Hotel: Please verify that all your information is correct when you check-in (# of days, # of guests, etc.), especially those of you who are sharing a room and have a need for a cot on only certain days. 4) Thanks to Ron Ketterling for coordinating the Anaheim T-Shirts. Thanks Mark Ortenburger *** From Doc: The July Chord-Inator deadline is Thursday, July 9, after we return from Anaheim. There should be a whole host of contributors and this issue should be a prize winner. However, it all depends on you. The opportunity is there to let our readers around the country know how proud you are to be Commodores. Don't let yourselves down. Thanks, Doc *** From Dan True: 1) Minneapolis Commodores Annual Golf Outing: Date: August 15, 2009 First Tee Time: 10:00am $30.00 for 18 holes, 1/2 cart and lunch Course: Riverside Town & Country Club Hwy 169 S Blue Earth, MN We will need to have a final count by August 8, 2009. 2) TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME: Fellow Barbershoppers: This is the final year at the Dome and it would be a great send off on our part. Please sign up at the table if you plan on going. We will sing the National Anthem (The Star Spangled Banner - Society # 7643) from the field. This is way more fun for us and better for the Metrodome. Gordon Billows from Winnipeg should be on hand to be sure we get the Canadian National Anthem sung at that time. Show up, sing, eat, drink, sing again all the while enjoying America's pastime. Link for last year's video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Evrw2-LLn9k or put MNTwins Anthem in the youtube.com search box. Game time: 1:10 pm, Sunday, August 16th, against the Cleveland Indians. We will try to gather about 11:30 or 12 noon to rehearse a bit in the stands. We will probably head for the tunnel by 12:25 or so, and yes, we will be able to use elevators, if needed for the less ambulatory. We will be singing from Section 217 or 218. Ticket cost: $20 each (bring family and friends). There will be options for any chorus to purchase discount coupons (about 20% off) for the concession stands. It is a Sunday so little kids can run the bases after the game! Next year, the new stadium will only hold 40,000 people. I would guess they may draw well the first year or so. The bigger the group we bring this year, the greater consideration they might give us for next year. I am asking EVERYONE to PLEASE respond with something Seven if it says you think we are nuts! This announcement is going out to a variety of sources so it may well arrive more than once to a chorus. If you want to expose potential members or youth-in-harmony types to this experience, bring them along but make sure they have rehearsed with your chorus a few times and are comfortable with the music. Thanks.
