The SWIPE MINNEAPOLIS COMMODORES www.minneapoliscommodores.org March 3, 2009 From Paul: HI guys, Here’s the plan for Tuesday: 7:30 vocal technique 7:45 RUN SHOW- in order, NO STOPPING (no quartets) all warts will be ignored- this is a straight run- through to get a feel for the flow of songs. Whatever Happened to the Old Songs Sitting On Top of the World Hello Mary Lou Beach Boys Medley Can You Feel the Love Tonight I Love to Tell the Story Meet Me In Rosetime Rosie Time After Time Minstral Montage 8:25 Whatever Happened- visual reminders 8:35 Beach Boys- trouble spots 8:45 B/B 9:00 Bare Necessities 9:15 When You Wish Upon a Star 9:25 work trouble spots from run-through 9:58 KAS/KTWWS See you then *** From David Speidel: Please bring sunglasses and a Hawaiian or summer like shirt to rehearsal. We need to figure out logistics on the outfit change during the show. From Doc: 1) The March Chord-Inator will be distributed tonight in the usual manner, 2) Only two and a half weeks to go to Showtime. To paraphrase Admiral Lord Nelson at Trafalgar in 1805, [Show chairman] expects every man to do his duty! I know you will utilize your spare moments to polish your performances and so give the audience a Commodore-class production. *** From Carl Pinard: TICKETS - ANNUAL SHOW. 1) We will need all of the unsold tickets returned to us by March13th. They need to be back at Bethel by early the next week. 2) We also need your listing of to whom you sold the tickets by the 13th of March. (Bethel requirement0 Please help us on this. We need some time to get all those names into the system. 3) The best thing to do is to turn everything (money and tickets) in next Tuesday night, March 10. Thank you. Diana and Carl *** From Jim Richards: This coming Saturday, the Bloomington Chapter is hosting an all day event at the Eagles Club in Bloomington featuring Bruce ODell's celebrated "Joe Barbershop" class on the basics of barbershop. From Jim Richards (Continued): Several Commodores have taken this class when offered at COTS and highly recommend it to all. There will be lots of singing and everyone should come away smarter about barbershop. Since box lunches are to be provided (presumably at a reasonable cost) we need to have a good estimate of how many will be planning to attend. I'm not sure of the time but I think that it is from 9AM to 4 PM. Cheers! *** From Mark Ortenburger: Anaheim Hotels - Confirmation I will start emailing your hotel confirmations out tomorrow. All the confirmations show the number of guests as one. Don't worry about this. This initial confirmation is strictly for check-in/check-out dates and to verify that you do have a room. I'll work with them to get the additional information added in. If you have any changes that need to be made, dates, names, or cancellations, please work through me so we can keep all of our information straight. For those Commodores who are sharing a room, I've put one name down as the principal for the room. For those of you who did not already have someone lined up to share a room with, I've tried to put you together with an individual whose check-in/check-out dates most closely matched your own. I'm sure we'll have additional changes that need to be made between now and June. It's very important that all these get coordinated through me so we minimize the risk of someone getting stuck with the full cost of a room. In addition to your check-in/check-out dates, there is another key date regarding room cancellation fees. Up to May 18 there is no fee for a cancellation. After May 18, a $35 fee is applied. A fee of one full room night is applied for any cancellation made within 72 hours of check-in. *** Attendance: February 24 – 67 Dates to Remember: • Saturday, March 7, Bruce Odell’s “Joe Barbershopper” class, Bloomington, MN • Thursday, March 19, 2009 Show Technical Rehearsal, Bethel Hall • Saturday, March 21, 2009 Annual Show, 3:00 and 7:30 PM, Bethel Hall • Friday and Saturday, March 27-28, 10,000 Lakes Division Contest, Stillwater, MN • Friday and Saturday, May 1-2, LOL District Spring Prelims, Stevens Points, WI • Sunday, June 14, On To Fame Show, 3:00 PM Ted Mann Concert Hall • Sunday through Sunday, June 28 to July 5, International Convention, Anaheim, CA • Friday through Sunday, October 23-25, LOL Fall Convention, Rochester, MN Board Meetings: Wooddale Lutheran Church – 7 PM • March 26 • April 16 • May 21 Mike Hojan, The SWIPE Editor Lakeville, MN
