Paul *** From Doc: 1) Chord-Inator deadline is February 26. Please be prompt! 2) Those in need of a membership badge or job hanger, please sign up on the clipboard at the side desk. 3) Please bring your straw hats (skimmers) to chapter meeting. They are needed for the Sitting On Top of the World number. 4) We also want you to have sun glasses, Hawaiian shirts (and baseball caps?) for Beach Boys. 5) The Mason City show is April 4 with Crossroads headlining. I am planning to go to the afternoon show and maybe have dinner at the Nortnwest Steak House. Let me know if you are interested. *** From Gary Jacobson: 1) For those who attended Quartet Singing 101... Thank you for participating. If you were not at our last session tonight, please see me about an Evaluation form. The Music Team is interested in your ideas for other sessions to help our members sing better. 2) Also attached is information on Basic Chorus visuals and a plan for Whatever Happened to the Old Songs Gary Jacobson *** From Carl: Guys, please make a special effort to sell your tickets in the next two weeks. We will need to turn in the unsold tickets the week before the show and we need about two days to get all of your info into the system. Make an effort to really push sales, the treasury needs the money. This is our biggest fund raiser of the season and we're only half way to our goal. Can we have some pride in ourselves and our organization? We're 25th out of 800. We are more entertaining than many of our brethren. We have a lot to be proud of. We are a class act! Remember, the dues you pay to the chapter amount to about $1.50 per week. Without the show income your chapter dues would be about $10 per week. We are a performing chorus and we perform very well. Let's let the whole world know about it. Don't be afraid of "no". If 10% of the people you talk to say yes you are doing VERY well. We can do it. Thanks. Carl *** From Mark Ortenburger: 1) We're coming down the homestretch as we get ready for our show on March 21. It's vitally important that everyone attend all of our remaining rehearsals if at all possible. The enjoyment our audience gets from our performance and your enjoyment as a performer is directly dependent on how well we pull everything together over these last few Tuesday nights. If everyone makes it a point to give their full attention to whomever is standing in front of the chorus we'll be on our way to producing the kind of show we can all be proud of. 2) Thursday, February 26 is the deadline for getting your information to me that will guarantee your hotel room in Anaheim. If you did not turn in your paperwork or have any questions, please make sure to see me tonight. 3) If you haven't purchased your Convention Registration (required to sing on stage and attend all the performances) please see me. I have several registrations available that were purchased by Commodores who are now in a position where they won't be able to attend. Buying the registration from them will allow you to sit with the chorus and greatly help the individual since the society does not allow for refunds once the tickets are purchased. *** From Dick Riemenschneider: Somehow in one of our last two gigs I accidently came into possession of a tux jacket that is not mine. It is a "First Nighter" brand, Size 48R. Please contact Dick Riemenschneider if you are missing this coat. *** Attendance: February 17 - 73 Dates to Remember: • Saturday, March 7, Bruce Odell’s “Joe Barbershopper” class, Bloomington, MN • Thursday, March 19, 2009 Show Technical Rehearsal, Bethel Hall • Saturday, March 21, 2009 Annual Show, 3:00 and 7:30 PM, Bethel Hall • Friday and Saturday, March 27-28, 10,000 Lakes Division Contest, Stillwater, MN • Friday and Saturday, May 1-2, LOL District Spring Prelims, Stevens Points, WI • Sunday, June 14, On To Fame Show, 3:00 PM Ted Mann Concert Hall • Sunday through Sunday, June 28 to July 5, International Convention, Anaheim, CA • Friday through Sunday, October 23-25, LOL Fall Convention, Rochester, MN Board Meetings: Wooddale Lutheran Church – 7 PM • March 26 • April 16 • May 21 Mike Hojan, The SWIPE Editor
