Paul *** From Mark Ortenburger: Anaheim Hotel Information: There is an Anaheim Hotel Registration information request form on the table for each of you who had previously indicated that you would be going to the International Convention in July. This is a separate process from the registration that you already filled out for tickets to attend the events. These forms must be filled out and returned to me no later than Thursday, February 26 to meet the March 1 deadline imposed by the Society. If you plan to share a room I've included a list of everyone who indicated that they wanted to share a room in Anaheim. Please coordinate your arrangements for roommates in advance of filling out the sheet and include their names on your form. Thanks in advance for your prompt attention to this. If you will not be at one of the Chapter Meetings in February you can mail the form to me. If you're out of town and want a form emailed to you let me know. Joe Barbershopper Class: The class will be held at the Eagles #3208 in Bloomington, starting at 9 a.m. on March 7. The coordinator for the event will confirm as we get closer but he indicated that there should be space for all the Commodores who indicated an interest in attending. *** From Doc: As of today there are only five weeks until we perform the preshow at Lakeville North and less than seven weeks until we hit the stage at Bethel. At this time I am embarrassed to point out that we are far behind in show promotion, sponsorship solicitations, senior-group sales as well as chapter ticket sales. As general chairman the responsibility for these shortcomings falls on my shoulders. I am sorry I haven't been more proactive in carrying out my charge. Be that as it may, I am asking all of you to go all out selling tickets and sponsorships. One sponsorship per Commodore is not an unreasonable goal. Furthermore we want to be the beat we can be for our performances. That means polishing our repertoire to the point where our audiences will say they never have heard or seen us perform better. Though you might not be great ticket or sponsorship salesmen, you must do everything possible to sell yourselves to our ticket buyers. These challenges may seem daunting but I have faith in all of you. Let's have a superior show. The February Chord-Inator will be distributed tonight in the usual manner. Alex Ringeisen and Dillon Berg (former pupils of Paul Wigley and Commodores) sang with the 4th place “Wissota Voices" at the 25 and under chorus contest at the Midwinter Convention in Pasadena. Alex has also been accepted to the U of M Medical School. Congratulations!! *** From Dan Williams: Re: 2009 Show Attire & Summer Uniforms The Show Committee has decided the attire for the show will be the Commodore-logo polo shirt and tan slacks with black belts and black shoes. Many of you already have a polo shirt; any color (blue, green, red or yellow) except white or black can be worn. I’ve been asked to order slacks for everyone to give the chorus a “more consistent look”. Sign-up sheets will be available tonight. Please fill in your waist/inseam sizes – all waist sizes 28-34, even waist sizes 36-54; inseam even sizes 28-34 & OB. Also, indicated if you need to order a polo shirt (size and color), as well. The slacks will cost $24.00, polo shirts cost $20.00. Please sign-up ASAP as I would like to place the order by Feb. 18th. This “uniform” will also become the Commodore summer uniform. See me, if you have any questions. The information can be emailed to me at: williamsda227@hotmail.com. *** From Peter Jarnberg: Sponsorships: Chorus Fund Raiser Please pick up some forms on the table tonight and begin to sell Sponsorships to Individuals and Companies. This is one of the Choruses fund raisers that will be used to fund the choruses community outreach (i.e. Youth in Harmony) and some of the 2009 activities that we will be involved in. Last year we raised $3,000 - this year, lets exceed this manyfold. The Sponsorships will be listed in our upcoming show program and in our advertising pieces we use over the next 12 months. Peter Jarnberg Valentines Fund Raiser and Quartet Fun - The forms are on the table - please make an effort to keep our 7 quartets busy this year, Sell! Sell! Sell! Peter Jarnberg *** From Carl Pinard: We've got six weeks to sell tickets for the annual show. Please be committed to this. We need every dollar you can find. Diana and I are up to about 15 seats sold already. Pick up a flyer, or download one from the web site, and mail a copy to all of your friends and acquaintances. Follow-up with a phone call. Send out a hundred. You'll be surprised how many will want to purchase. If you haven't ordered any tickets yet, DO SO TONIGHT. Don't just let the other guy do it. Be proud of your chorus and let the world know about it. This is a great hobby and the Commodores are great entertainers. Aren't we going to the International Contest? Don't forget to look over the repertoire from last week's Swipe and turn in your music. Thank You.
