Larry Daby *** From Dan Slattery: Fargo Contest - Gentleman, we are getting ready to order a block of tickets for the contest in October. We need to pay for these, so we would like to start collecting for the tickets tonight. The ticket prices are as follows: Full strip covering all events except the AIC show, is $45.00 each. The ticket price for a single ticket event is $20.00 each. Also I would like to start collecting for the people wanting to take the bus. That price is $40.00 each. I’ll be at the side table to help you make your purchases tonight. Thanks, Dan *** From Doc: 1) GOLFERS: Sign up now for the Dwan Golf Outing in Bloomington on Saturday, September 11. Eighteen holes with cart is $41.00; walking $29.00. Please indicate on the sheet if you will ride or walk. Dwan is a most pristine course, Par 68, and easily walk able. If we have a good crowd (I tentatively said 36 golfers) there will be a bean and burger feed for $10.00 afterwards. With small numbers we would just order from the grill ad lib. On August 28 I must relay the definite number of attendees to the club staff. Whatever that number is I (WE!) will be fiscally responsible for all fees. There is no minimum number and I suppose we could have as many as 72. Let me reiterate - those on the sign-up list on Saturday, August 28, will be obligated to pay whether they play or not. 2) There are nearly 30 members signed up for the performance at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hopkins at the 4:30 p.m. Mass on Saturday, September 18. There is no director as yet but since this is a board-sanctioned performance. I trust one will come forward. (I hope I won't have to step up.) I would very much like to perform And Can It Be. I would ask all in the performing group to make a special effort to learn it. I suppose we could use music to cheat a little particularly if each individual singer gets a good leg up on the arrangement. I also would ask you to work on Precious Lord, Take My Hand. Last year we sang Battle Hymn, I Love to Tell the Story, and Irish Blessing. The congregation loved us and many afterwards asked to have us back. 3) Chord-Inator deadline is July 29 - NO EXTENSIONS! (No groveling, either!) Doc *** From Rich: SUNSHINE HOTLINE 952-829-7009 ddongna@usfamily.net A big THANK YOU to Jim Richards for communicating Pearl Millers death and funeral arrangements to the chorus for me. It’s with mixed emotions that I inform you of my own (Rich Ongna) mother’s death this past Friday. She was 92 and enjoyed good health up until the day before her death when she suffered a heart attack followed by a stroke. Romana Jorgenson, Jim’s wife remains in the hospital where they have removed the shunt from her head and she is being treated for infection. John Carlotto had knee surgery today to repair the ligament that he tore a couple of months ago. Please keep me informed about our sick and ailing members and remember them with your cards, calls and prayers. Rich Ongna *** Next Board Meeting: Thursday, August 19 at Wooddale Lutheran Church 7 – 9 PM Please let me know of any changes to your e-mail address. Thanks Mike Hojan, The SWIPE Editor
